Election 2007

Stamp duty rates in Ireland are to high when compared to other EU countries. It needs to be reformed with:
1. The bands increased
2. Take first time buyers out of the loop
3. Decrease rates overall
4. No or reduced stamp duty for when you move your principal private residence.

The uncertainty with regards Stamp Duty has lead to in recent weeks a reduction in property sales. The issue around stamp duty needs to be resolved, election promises kept and clear time lines set. If timelines are not set this will most likely increase uncertainty in the market place.
